Questions and answers
Is Kaze free?
Yes. Kaze on the web makes videos at 480p and 30 frames per second for free, with no account and no watermark. 720p, 1080p and 60 fps are in the Kaze app for Android.
Do I need an account?
No. There is no sign-up and no login.
Is my route uploaded anywhere?
No. Your GPX file, your photos and your videos are handled in your browser, on your device, and never uploaded. Only the map for your route’s area is downloaded. See the privacy policy.
Which files can I use?
A GPX file (.gpx) of up to 25 MB, from any app or device: Strava, Garmin Connect, YAMAP, Komoot, Wikiloc and others. Kaze reads the track and shows what it found before you edit it. How to get a GPX file from the apps riders use most.
Where does Kaze have maps?
In Vietnam, Japan and South Korea, made from OpenStreetMap. The whole route has to lie inside one of them; for a route elsewhere Kaze says “No map for this area yet”. See map coverage.
How long is the video?
From about 20 seconds up to 90. The ride takes 15 to 90 seconds, longer for a longer route and for each marker on it, and a short closing card with the route and its figures follows. The preview shows the video’s length, its size and the time to make it before you start.
Which shapes can I make?
Landscape 16:9, portrait 9:16 for stories and short videos, and square 1:1.
What can I add to the route?
Markers anywhere along it: 38 icons, notes and photos. In the video the camera stops at a note or a photo while its card opens. You can also cut off the start and the end of the route.
How long does making a video take?
The video is made on your device, so it depends on the device and on the route; the preview gives an estimate before you start. Keep the tab open until the video is ready.
Where is my video saved?
Save video opens your computer’s save dialog in your Videos folder, or downloads the file on a phone. Share sends it to another app where your browser can. The video is kept only while the page is open, so save it before you leave.
Which browsers work?
A recent browser with WebCodecs and WebGL 2. Kaze is tested in Google Chrome, on computers and on Android phones.
Can I install Kaze?
Yes. With the editor open, install Kaze from Chrome’s or Edge’s menu. Installed on Android, Kaze appears when you share a GPX file from another app.
